If you wish to hide the exact location of an observation but still make the associated data available you can "diffuse" the location. For example this function can be of use to avoid revealing the precise location of a camera or trap.
Diffusing a location in this manner means that only the reporter, co-observers and those with special access priviledges (for example county council ecologists and environmental managers) can see the exact location. For general users it is a box of the selected dimensions (100m, 500m or 1km) that is presented.
Box shown. The exact location (red spot) is only visable to the reporter, co-observers and those with special access priviledges.
